Christians of the Diaspora choose safe exile life than living in the land of their ancestors

Shafaq News/ More than seventy thousand Iraqi Christians in Jordan, are living unstable and difficult conditions, but they nevertheless feel safe, during their stay in Iraq.

Christians in Jordan do not want to return to Iraq. Joseph Issa said to  "Shafaq  News" that "It is impossible to return to Iraq even if targeting of Christians has been stopped  they will never feel safe, especially after the withdrawal of U.S. troops.", "This Eid is better than previous ones, to me, which I spent in Iraq in Jordan, although I do not have set settlement certificate but I at least feel safe." He said
Most Christians living in Jordan, are dependent on international aids under very difficult living circumstances awaiting resettlement in a third country by the United Nations.
What is more difficult to live in Jordan, the Jordanian government does not grant temporary residence for the owners of non-Jordanian nationalities, but for the purposes of the study or treatment for a very short period, which makes finding a job in Jordan, an impossible task.
Vivian Joseph said to "Shafaq  News", " I turned a blind eye when I stepped up the car to leave Baghdad and I did not open it only in Oman, even if not the United Nations will not resettle me in a third country I will stay in Jordan because at least I  feel safe."
Jordan receives the largest number of Iraqi refugees after the deterioration of the situation in Syria, which was receiving most of the Iraqis, according to informed sources, migrated a lot of Iraqis living in Syria during the past few months to Jordan.
The Patriarch deputy of the Chaldeans in Jordan, Father Raymond Moussalli Joseph said to "Shafaq  News" "since 2003, hundred thousand Christians emigrated, from Iraq, and  about half of them went to Syria and the other half went to Aman, Lebanon, Egypt and Turkey."
The head of Christian Endowment Ra’ad Emmanuel  Alshamma’a responded in a statement to "Shafaq  News" "I call for the return of all migrants and immigrants who do not live safely in their country overseas to Iraq, despite the difficult conditions experienced."
The number of Christians in Iraq in 2003 were  800 thousand people, according to statistics from international organizations and their presence was concentrated in the capital Baghdad, and the largest population resides  in Nineveh plain near Mosul in northern Iraq.
