Meeting of Barzani with Kurdish MPs and ministers did not disclose its decisions
Shafaq News/ The meeting for which the President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani, called the Kurdish MPs and ministers in Baghdad,
has been ended without revealing the decisions reached on the position towards the relationship between the KRG and the federal government headed by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.The meeting issued a statement that revealed "discussions of various important issues and problems facing the political process, Iraqi democracy in the current circumstances and ways to solve them."
The statement criticized what it called " Being very late in the implementation of important items of the agreements signed and in particular with regard to building the foundations of national partnership and the principle of balance on the basis of the Constitution and the agreement to fill the security ministries," stressing that there is "no correct orientation to solve the outstanding problems with the Kurdistan Region and the reluctance where there are real problems obstructing the march of national partnership and the democratic process. "
The statement called the "forces combined in the Iraqi government to make greater efforts to overcome the immediate problems in the spirit of a high sense of responsibility towards people and the country, especially the commitment to the Constitution, on the basis of which the political process had begun .The principle of consensus is one of its bases , so respecting it would preserve the unity of the homeland and its people."
Commenting on the themes of the meeting and the main themes addressed by the leaders a senior member of the coalition of Kurdish blocs said that "all that came out by the participants was positive.", "the political process in Iraq is not based or dependent on the jerky position toward Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki or any other person," Mahmoud Othman, said to "Shafaq News" , asserting at the same time that "the meeting shed light on many things."
However, some media reports spoke of the meeting that it discussed the option of withdrawing from the government of Nuri al-Maliki, which was denied by Othman.
