the formation of joint technical committees with the Iranian side to return the water flow of the Lalonde river in the district of Khanaqin.
"The ministry had formed technical committees in common with the Iranian side to restore the flow of water to the Lalonde river in Khanaqin," The spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources Ali Hashim, said in an interview with Shafaq.
"The committees continue to meet to discuss this matter, because of its importance and impact on the agricultural areas of Diyala governorate . " said he .
"The former political situation of the country were not friendly with the neighboring countries and this led to a worsening decline in the share of Iraq's water." Hashim added.
Khanaqin saw several angry demonstrations of protesters who had closed the gate of Mundhiriyah on the Iraqi-Iranian border within the district of the Diyala governorate to protest against the Iranian authorities because they did not respond to the demands of the people of the city by releasing Lalonde River water , which is the main artery to supply the water to all Khanaqin district .
