Parliamentary culture: the regime of Saddam caused poor professional performance of the press

Shafaq News/ "The professional performance of the press and the media in today's Iraq is weak and needs to an accumulated experience to get to the high professional and professionalism. " The member of the parliamentary Committee of Culture and Media Batoul Farouk said to  "Shafaq  News", .

"There are many media people and journalists do not appreciate the space of freedom in the new Iraq and use it to abuse others, and the do not does not differentiate between criticism and trespassing the rights of the people." She explained .

It is said that the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory counted, earlier, the law of the rights of journalists, passed by the House of Representatives recently as to return to the policy of imposing totalitarian regimes, stressing that this law does not provide a protection for journalists.

Farouq showed that "the most important causes of poor professional performance in the press is due to the policies of the former regime in dimensions and fighting skills and expertise of the relevant educational institutions, media, as well as practices of dictatorship in the cancellation of other journalists in conflict with its policies."

The draft law to protect journalists have been subjected to widespread criticism by journalists and points of several media, as well as by international organizations, including the article "19" International that expressed concern about the provisions of the draft law, which "interfere" with the international standards of human rights of freedom of expression and the establishment of associations, emphasizing the importance of the draft  to include the right of freedom of expression.

The Society for Defending Freedom of the press counted , earlier, the passing of the law of the rights of journalists by  the House of Representatives and then ratification it  by President Jalal Talabani  as a reflection of the will of the political class and parties  in the  parliament and government, and returning to the  control of the media and an end of the gained freedom of the press and re-production of power media again  not a free media.
