Shafaq News/ The director of the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory Ziad AlIjaily said to "Shafaq News", that "the press freedom in 2011 witnessed a gradual decline significantly, as shown by the raids and harassment suffered by some journalists
as well as some media organizations."He continued that "despite the existence of freedom of publication, but the movement of journalists has become restricted and the authorities prevented them in many cases, to cover the events and it confiscated their press tools ."The Organization (RSF) has published in the rankings for the freedom of the press in January 25 / 2012 a Report stated that "Iraq has declined recently in the freedom of the press in 2011 after it had made significant progress during the past years that followed 2008,and it confirmed that the decline includes the Region of Kurdistan, which has long been a haven for Iraqi journalists fleeing from violence in the center and south. "Ajaily threw responsibility of press freedoms fell on the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and said that "Iraqi Journalists Syndicate offers freedom of the press on a platter of gold to the government," noting, "It did not work one day to expand or defend press freedoms, , and it is trying to restrict the journalist voice through a severe centrality imposed on all Iraqi journalists. "
It is said that the Journalistic Freedoms Observatory said to "Shafaq News", earlier, that "real professionals" journalists do not join the Iraqi Journalists Union, stressing that journalists who expose corruption and marked off glitches in the performance of the government are "friends to it not its enemies.
