Shafaq News/ The  ministry of planning spokesman Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi said to “Shafaq News", "The Ministry of Planning is the authority concerned and responsible for conducting the census and did not need to persuade one to set a date for the vote." The Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, said earlier, that the Iraqi government is committed to find consensus for the implementation of the general census.
Hindawi said " The old problems that stood in front of the census are still an obstacle till now, including the disputed areas, and the field of nationalism in the census form which are still in dispute."
It is said that the Ministry of Planning to cancel the field of nationalism of the census form effects, earlier, Kurdish angry reactions .They counted that this approach by the Ministry is illegal and is in favor of sowing sedition and sectarianism in the provinces is characterized by ethnic multiplicity in them, accusing those who stand behind the decision of trying to delay Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.
The spokesman for the planning, said "The ministry did not specify a date now for the census, and we hope to resolve the issues that caused the delay of this year."
The last census took place in Iraq in 1997, showed a population of about 19 million people in all regions except the provinces of Iraqi Kurdistan, where officials estimated their numbers then three million people.
