Academics and researchers discuss the impact of Faili Kurds in Iraq's educational history

 

Shafaq News/ " Faily Kurds in the curriculums" was , the title of a symposium hosted by the Kurdish House, on Saturday, in which  and the professor of linguistics at the Faculty of Arts, Baghdad University, Abdul-Abbas Abdul-Jassim, and the  assistant professor in the Department of Kurdish Language at the University of Baghdad, Yusra Mohammed Abdullah ,talked  and it was  attended by a gathering of intellectuals and academics.

 

Abdul Abbas addressed in his research entitled " Faily Kurdish component between crushing and marginalization," the  default made in studies on Faily Kurds history, due to the reason of the dualism enjoyed by the Faily Kurds as to be "Kurds and Shiites."

He pointed out that "the foot of Faily Kurdish is the first presented established on the Tigris River for thousands of years BC, and they were the first inhabitants of this land," he said, adding that "the Faily Kurds were existent even before the race the Arabs who have not appeared in Iraq only in the first millennium BC , in addition to that many Faily Kurdish words are found in the Iraqi famous Epic of Gilgamesh. "

 

"The Faily  Kurds presented 22 000 martyrs, which is a large number compared to their population number, which was two and a half million people."

Researcher and moved to speak about the conditions of Faily Kurds after the change in April 2003 and noted that they did not take their entitlement and are still "scattered and marginalized," although they were leading the ranks sacrifices.

He said, the Ministries of Higher Education and Human Rights examined the issue and decided to introduce curriculum materials related to the Faily Kurds Faili and their suffering in the curriculum as part of its attempts to do justice to minorities, also decided to introduce them in cultural products of the curriculum.

As a researcher in the Department of Kurdish Language at the University of Baghdad, Yusra Mohammed Abdullah, diagnosed under the heading "Research and studies on the Kurdish issue," the failure on the studies related to Faily Kurds by discussing the lack of any thesis , even in relation to departments of history in universities at the level of master and doctorate in the subject.

And demanded the establishment of bridges of communication between Faily organizations and academic parties , particularly in the universities.

The researcher explained, "Our university students take in their thesis the history of Europe and America, while they are unable to study Faily Kurdish history," pointing to "lack of academic studies in this aspect in addition to the apparent lack of the publishing process by the  Faily Kurds  whose books do not come to us."  She noted that  only the publications issued by the "Shafaq "come  to them  in the university.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shafaq  Foundation Ali Hussein Faily  spoke about the existence of a distinct lack in the attendance of academics to seminars on the Faily Kurdish affairs , "There are many organizations for the Faily Kurds , but in return we are entitled to ask: How much have we achieved?".

He added that "the issue of Faily Kurds need principled people not employees."

He criticized the failure of both the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and referred to the contribution of  Shafaq Foundation in publishing magazines and books relating to the affairs of Faily Kurds, in addition to the live broadcast of the Shafaq  Radio Corporation over 20 hours a day, and programs that are allocated for children in the new year, which  were shared by  a large number of children.

At the end of the seminar was opened for discussion and interventions that dealt with various matters relating to the theme of the meeting and  the researchers answered questions attendees .

It is noteworthy that the University of Baghdad, had revealed last December about the addition of a university teaching  material dealing with crimes committed by the former regime against the Faily Kurds.
