House of Representatives declares its rejection of Hashemi’s request to intervene in his case

Shafaq News/ The House of Representatives announced on Thursday its rejection  a request by Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi for the formation of a parliamentary committee to oversee the stages of the investigation with the defendants in his case, noting that this request is illegal, and the formation of this committee is an encroachment on the independence of the judiciary.The member of the Parliamentary  Legal Committee Muhsin Sa’adoun said to  "Shafaq  News" that "the House of Representatives rejects the request, of  Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi to form a committee to supervise the defendants in his case, nor can the House of Representatives to intervene in his case."

It is said that Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, has called on Thursday in a statement from his office, for the formation of a parliamentary committee representing all the blocs to visit the detainees in the case privately and hear them directly  about the details of the investigation which was conducted with them, calling on the Supreme Judicial Council to speed up the transfer of his case outside Baghdad to provide the appropriate conditions to conduct the investigation with him.

"Iraqi constitution stressed the separation of powers, and the legislative authority can not interfere in the work of the executive power.” Sa’adoun said , adding that "the formation of any committee by the House in this judicial case is an encroachment on the judiciary."

The Kurdistan Alliance said, on Thursday, to "Shafaq  News" that the authorities of the Kurdistan Region has not received any memorandum of request from the federal judiciary to arrest Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi and hand him over to Baghdad, noting that Tariq al-Hashemi, and  the Iraqia List, believe that the federal judiciary  is politicized and it lost  its independence.

The Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi for whom a warrant arrest had been issued on charges of terrorism is currently present in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq after the Iraqi Interior Ministry had displayed , in the 19th  of December, the confessions of some of his protection elements on their acts of violence on his orders.
