A Close official to Maliki: The three foreigners have been detained in the Green Zone, just for two hours

Shafaq News/ A close official  to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki revealed on Monday that the three foreigners who were detained by security forces inside the Green Zone have been held for two hours only and what  had been circulated by the media was incorrect. "What appeared in the media about the Iraqi forces detaining  three foreigners for two weeks had no ground ," The member of the State of Law coalition Sa’ad Muttalibi said to "Shafaq  News", adding that "this news is an exaggeration of parties trying to sabotage the relationship between Iraq and the United States. ""Iraqi forces detained three foreigners for two hours just because of a lack of identity papers and they were released as soon as these papers had arrived ." He added .

The Guardian newspaper recently quoted from the head of the Home Land Security the Republican Peter King  saying that the "The three security contractors , including two Americans were released by the Iraqi army after the arrest of more than two weeks."

" They were released after efforts by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense and the U.S. embassy and the White House." The Chairman of the Committee said

I was surprised , he said adding " It is supposed that Iraq is our ally. We liberated Iraq, and in return they detained those  men for 18 days.  It is something unforgivable that they were treated this way while Iraq is supposed to be our ally."
