Environment Ministry raises four lawsuit cases against Secretary for Baghdad" for environmental transgressions"

Shafaq News / The Ministry of Environment, revealed on Monday, that it had raised four lawsuit cases against Secretary of Baghdad in addition to his function, because of "environmental violations" for the flow of sewage water in the basin of the Tigris River, indicating that the Secretariat had violated the promises made in the past year to stop these violations."Ministry of the Environment raised four cases lawsuits against Baghdad Secretary Saber al-Issawi in addition to his function because of his continued violations of environmental by sewage water flow  in the basin of the Tigris River." The deputy of Environment Minister Kamal Hussein said to "Shafaq  News","The nonexistence of commitment by the Municipality of Baghdad of the law and disregarding the  notifications addressed to it by the Ministry of Environment since 2008, and laying  down sewage in the waters of the Tigris River from areas  of Rustumiya, Al Doura,and  Abdul-Muhsin Kadhimi made  us to raise these right claims in front of the judiciary." He said.

"The nonexistence of commitment by government departments  that are contaminating the  environment of the laws of the ministry in 2008 puts them in the position of accountability before the law, and the Municipality of Baghdad had promised to stop breaching in 2010, but it has not fulfilled its promises to the day."

The Ministry of Environment, revealed earlier, that 75 percent of sewage in Iraq are thrown directly into rivers without treatment, leading to environmental continuous disaster .

The ministry launched a slogan this year which is "No sewage in the rivers," pointing out that it will focus on this issue largely down to get rid of this issue.
