Basra accuses neighboring countries to target Iraq's oil sector and rule out the "conspiracy" of U.S.
Shafaq News / Basra province Council accused, on Thursday, some of Iraq's neighboring countries to target the Iraqi oil sector, and unlikely that there was an American role in the sabotage of oil facilities and export pipelines.
The vice head of the provincial council in Basra Ahmed Sulaiti said to "Shafaq News", "some of the neighboring countries, are targeting the oil sector in Iraq to weaken it economically, to push it away from its regional role.""There are neighboring countries exporting oil that offer customers prices less than the price of Iraqi oil in order to create economic crises to weaken Iraq and make it subservient to its wills ."According to police sources in the Iraqi oil, earlier, it has stepped up patrols to protect oil facilities in anticipation of a possible escalation of al-Qaeda attacks after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of this year.
Sulaiti ruled out the American role in the sabotage of Iraqi oil sector, saying " It is not in the interest of the Americans to conspire against Iraq to make weak in its oil production, because there is a shortage in the global market as a result of the Libyan oil production reluctance and the embargo imposed on Iran."
"What we are witnessing today is the intense competition of the giant U.S. oil companies to invest in Iraq, and seeking to enhance its export capacity." He added .
The head of the Liberals in the province of Basra Mazin Mazini, explained earlier, that the bombing of oil pipelines is a part of the U.S. occupation plans which is going according to the methodology to cripple the Iraqi economy ,as he said.
The three bombs exploded in a pipeline carrying crude oil from southern fields to oil storage tanks on around Basra in the south, which led to the outbreak of a fire that continued throughout the night and was put out on Wednesday morning.
