Shafaq News/ The parliamentary Commission of oil and energy, explained Saturday, that the reality of power in Iraq this winter, is  "disappointing" and threatens to be even worse in the summer, and called to speed up completion of projects of power generation  plants. "This winter has seen the lowest periods of supply of electricity other than normally expected, which indicates a serious deterioration in the reality of electricity amounted to the worst conditions at the end of this year, in light of expectations for more deterioration in the next year. "Susan Sa'ad, the member of the parliamentary Commission of oil and energy Said in a statement to "Shafaq News""The Ministry of Electricity has always apologized for the lack of supply of electricity or its disappearance because of an act of sabotage in the transmission lines, while the ministry is supposed to have troops to protect the lines and systems, and this means that it must bear its share of responsibility for the incidents of sabotage" She added.

" The citizen is very disappointed as a result of this significant decline in the reality of power, and is preparing for the hot summer which may be the worst in recent years." She noted.

Iraq has suffered from a severe shortage of electric power, and the national network is still unable to provide electricity supply for more than a few hours a day and the frequent interruptions in power come at the top of citizens' complaints.

The problem of power and depriving citizens from it is the most prominent issues that sparked popular protests in Baghdad and the provinces, while there were conflicting statements from officials on the end of the crisis, while the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki  said on 8 February that "the problem of electricity in Iraq will end by this winter after the completion of the implementation of the signed contracts. "
