Shafaq News/ The Commission on Human Rights in the House of Representatives, announced Thursday, rejecting many of the paragraphs contained in the draft law on freedom of expression provided by the Government to the House of Representatives, indicating that many of the paragraphs of the draft  are "loose" and opened to interpretation by government agencies."Human Rights Commission will not allow the passing of several paragraphs of the draft law on freedom of expression." A member of the Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights Ashwaq Aljaff said to "Shafaq  News",Human Rights Watch, based in New York, called earlier, the Iraqi Council of Representatives not to pass the draft "Law on Freedom of expression and peaceful protest," because it "criminalizes freedom of expression and closes on the liberties and violate international law."

"Our Committee was surprised to include first reading of the draft law on freedom of expression on the agenda of the Council, at the time the Committee was not informed on the details and the terms of the law." She explained .

"The most important and most prominent things that we reserve against , is the paragraph that sets the demonstration license whose request must be presented by the people in charge of it five days before the event, and we see that this period is long and should be set at 24 hours, so as to notice the security forces to protect the demonstration. " She added .

"There are many paragraphs of the draft law which are loose and lacks of clarity and specificity, and can be interpreted by government institutions in line with their interests." She said .

The Iraqi Constitution guarantees freedom of expressing opinion by all means and freedom of the press, printing, advertising, media and publishing, as well as freedom of assembly and peaceful demonstration.
