Parliamentary Human rights Committee announces to mandate Justice Ministry to negotiate with Saudi Arabia to return the detainees
Shafaq News/ The Parliamentary Human Rights Committee announced, Wednesday, that the Council of Ministers authorized the Ministry of Justice to negotiate with Saudi Arabia on the status of the Iraqi detainees, and mechanisms to bring them back to their country.
The member of the Parliamentary Human Rights Commission deputy Ashwaq Al- jaff said to "Shafaq News", "The Iraqi government agreed with the Saudi government at all points on the exchange of prisoners between the two countries except for one point only," noting that "this point is the details of the exchange. Iraq refuses to commute terrorists contributed in the killing of the Iraqi people with, detainees whose crimes do not exceed the crossing the borders illegally. "The Saudi Interior Ministry announced last November the execution of an Iraqi in Ar’ar, located in the northern border with Iraq after being convicted of killing a Saudi citizen after a dispute between them."This point is the focus of the dispute, the Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of Justice to negotiate to reach an agreement in this regard." Al-jaff added."The parliamentary Human Rights Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights is following the situation of detainees in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to make sure they are treated in accordance with the principles of the United Nations human rights." She said.
