Qadria Ja'afar: The new government does not trust women
Shafaq Shafaq hosted Ms. Qadria Ja'afar Khalid the head of Kurdistan Women's Union / Council of Baghdad Governorate,…
to talk about the role of women in the Third World communities, especially in Iraq, although she is suffering marginalization and exclusion and weak political and social role. So we had the following dialogue:
* Do not you notice the absence of women from active roles in Iraqi society, although they constitute a clear majority of the components of the Iraqi people?
- In most countries and communities we can see the extensive presence of women, because women's power does not run out in social building. In Iraq women had important roles and they worked effectively through the positions they mounted. I see Iraqi women are able to lead the community effectively, with emphasis on its potential in making crucial decisions.
Q- What are the reasons that led to the failure and decline in the representation of women in the new government?
- I think that the political blocs are responsible for not nominating women for the assumption of the portfolios. The political blocs contributed in not placing women in their rightful place which they are worthy of it.
* What should the civil society organizations do to activate the role of women in building the new Iraq?- It is necessary that civil society organizations insist on demanding women fairness and achieving their rights just like their male counterparts in the management of everything.
*It is observed that the major political blocs claim that they call for activating the participation of women in the new government, but we see the contrary, what is your comment?
- The new government does not trust women, and it believes that they are unable to complete anything, as well as it tries to underestimate women.
