Many themes for many films from Kurdish events
The British picture scenarist Simon Phrim is preparing for writing the scenario of a film about the catastrophes to which the Kurdish people...
had been subjected during his visit to Kurdistan Region with the companionship of a film production company. The purpose of the visit was to see some of the suggested sites for filming (The return again) movie which deals with the subject of the Kurds citizens returning to their villages and the role of the " Peshmerga' forces in liberating Iraq and Kurdistan Region. In the interview with the Kurdistani news agency reporter Phrim talks about the idea of the film and about his visit to the region.
* When did you come to Kurdistan? What are the goals and the number of the artists you chose to play the roles of the film whose scenario you are intending to write?
- I came to Kurdistan a week ago, and I will return home after I achieved the goals of the visit. I saw a number of the sites and I met some artists. I got much information about Kurdistan and the events that Kurdish people lived during the past years. On my return home I will start writing the scenario for the production company and the director to carry out the stages of filming and production. As far as I know some actors have been selected to play the main roles of the film.
-Have you got any special information about Kurdistan that can explain the events in the film?
- In fact my information about this aspect was so limited but I was keen to gather much information here in Kurdistan and in Britain as well specially about Peshmerga and the events which happened to the Kurdish people. Therefore I made special and general discussions about the Kurds and their history .Actually I have to say I am a film scenario writer and I do not want to narrate history in the film without doing certain changes on it .Undoubtedly there are big differences between writing a film and writing history .
Q: What is your impression about Kurdistan, after watching a number of places and Kurdish villages?
- You can produce hundreds of films based on stories and events of the Kurdish people, but it takes time and financial allocations, and working style. The movie production companies should be directed to Kurdistan to see the natural beauty and fascinating places that characterize it.
