The former regime excluded me from the national team
Shafaq (Anwar Murad Faily) the capable goalkeeper that Shafaq met and we had this dialogue with him:...
* How can you introduce your ID card?
- Anwar Salim Murad Faily, born in 1939 in Bab al-Sheikh Aqd Alakrad neighborhood and I graduated at the Ja'afariya School.
Q: What is the reason for your preference of being a goalkeeper among the other playing positions?
- Serendipity had played its role in the choice of the goalkeeping position, as I stated before in that match that I took part in the place of the goalkeeper late Razak and the result at the end of the match was a draw, one goal for each team, so I became an unchallenged hero in the arena, and this is the beginning of my journey with the goalkeeping.
* Who were the most prominent players of your generation?
- The late player Jamil Abbas (Jummoli) and Amo Baba, Jura and Edison ,Hamid Fawzi and Mohammed Thamir, Sahib Khaz'al, Jabbar Rishag and Hassan Balla, Hussein Hashim Georgis Ismail and Hisham Atta Ajaj and others. ----*What were the reasons of your being away from the team?
- (Before answering this question, his eyes welled with tears) and said, "I have not moved away from the team at all, but the former regime is responsible for keeping me away from the team."
*What about the causes of migration out of Iraq?
In 1975 an order issued by the President of the Republic and Minister of Defense to fire me from the service being from the Kurdish nationality. Their pretext was that I was from the foreign dependence, and in 1982 all my family members were deported to Iran without any fault of their own, only they were Faily Kurds. Therefore I fled to Kurdistan and remained hiding for 11 years, and in 1991 I left Kurdistan to Iran and then to the Netherlands and I am still there so far. In spite of my trip to the continent of Europe, my eyes are still yearning to Iraqi courtyards.
* How do you see the oppression of the dictatorial regime against the Faily Kurds particularly in terms of sports?
- The regime began to expel all the famous Faily players from the clubs, and then shut down some clubs founded by the Faily Kurds , and erased al of the sports that was practiced by the Faily Kurds such as wrestling and the( Zorkhanat) that made many heroes, in addition to the withdrawal of their property and the confiscation of their official documents and to keep their disadvantaged situation in the poor popular neighborhood unable to build a stadium or a courtyard or a hall in which they practice their favorite sports.
