Shafaq for the Faily Kurds lead civil society organizations, media

Abdul Aziz Lazim
Bilingual radio, four languages site , two magazines and the supplement for children and cultural seminars weekly, what more ?...

Civil societies and their organizations were formed with the era of modern societies and Iraq was not an exception. These organizations had existed before the change that took place in

the country in April 9, 2003 but  they have been subjected to the organized suppression and decrease of the role, in addition to the lack of belief in the importance of what can these organizations play . But its voice became more pronounced after the change in tune with the winds of democracy that was said it would cover the new life after the fall of the hardest dictatorship in history. With the emergence of the Democratic national parties as a necessity to complete the building of democratic organizations have emerged popular social organizations representing the social components to reflect the inequities accumulated as a result of the policy of the former regime and the desire to contribute in the democratic structure.

Shafaq Foundation for the Faily Kurds that have received the after the change period and with the support of the Kurdistan

Regional Government to launch a strong voice representing loyal social forces. This voice which represents a sect that is

still suffering from shock under the current regime because of the continuing effects of the persecution  they had and the continuing intractability of finding  the solution to their chronic humanitarian cause has achieved an unprecedented widening in the range of reaching the ears that were remote and  closed.

Behind this media success, Chairman  of the Board of Directors and Member of the Parliament of Kurdistan in Iraq, Ali Hussein Faily. Beside him, his wife and companion of the daily struggle Sundus Mirza stands, along with their active staff who work hard with spirit of openness and transparency.
To get to know the secret of this success and achievements we went to Mr. Ali Hussein Faily to explore his mind about that and to identify the nature of the role played by this institution:
– Can you describe a picture of your work for readers in Shafaq? Is it linked to the authority of the region or working independently?
- Shafaq Foundation came as a gift and support of the Kurdistan Regional Government for its Kurdish children living in the federal capital of Baghdad and as a fidelity to them for their great sacrifices in fighting injustice and dictatorship. It is not different from other institutions dealing with the Iraqi issues in general with a focus on the privacy of the role of Faily Kurds. Under the nature of our engagement with the rest of the sects in Baghdad in particular, we find ourselves in some distance from the region of Kurdistan,. Therefore, we are independent in our views and our ideas and implementation and at the same time we are committed to humanitarian principles and the  keeping of the privacy of our national identity.
- What are the successes in responding to the demands of the Faily Kurds slide?
- Faily Kurds issue carries multiple dimensions of policies and our suffering extend for decades. Our segment is a victim of a deliberate policy, so achieving our demands need extraordinary efforts. We see that the field of media in the absence of any  other source of pressure enable us to introduce our cause, and raise our demands . It is the best possible way for the time being at least to deal with the circumstances around us and to revive our Faily dialect. Also it enables  us to shed light on the heritage and history of this marginalized .. This is what we can be proud of. Our goal is to tell the world that we are still alive, despite the criminal injustice by dictatorial regimes.

-What is the extent of coordination between you and other civil society organizations, whose visions  approach to yours?
- There is a huge amount of organizations and agendas and proposals are different and as you know that the conditions of these organizations do not differ much from the conditions of the parties and trends and their impact on the Iraqi street. The impact of civil society organizations in the street, in my opinion is in decline at the moment. They are moving in narrow spaces, so we realize that most of them sympathize with us and we are encouraged in theory while in practice we find them unable to do anything, as they should.
– Can you talk to us about the difficulties facing your business? And the cooperation of government bodies with you?
- From the technical aspects, we, like other media organizations face difficulties and overcome them. As for  personnel, there is an exception, So we started working with  cadres who were  lack of experience and competence, but they werefull of enthusiasm and sense of responsibility. Today we are proud of our success in building a professional staff .
