illiteracy rates in Iraq as "catastrophic" compared with the country's wealth and natural resources.
The official spokesman of the Ministry of Planning and Cooperation Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi has announced that the proportion of non-learners in the country amounted to 6.2% of young people, according to a survey conducted by the ministry covered all the governorates , including the Kurdistan Region areas.
"The figures revealed by the Ministry of Planning recently on the percentage of illiteracy in the country is a major disaster for the Iraqi society." The member of the Committee Intisar Jubouri said in an interview with Shafaq.
" Iraq's wealth above and below ground and its richness of natural resources does not agree with the illiteracy rate suffered by the poor people." She added.
