A protest demonstration in Khanaqin

in a demonstration to protest against  the poor and deteriorated conditions of electricity in recent times in the city.
"The demonstration began in Khanaqin after many disconnections of the electric power in recent times, which created a state of discontent in among the citizens, especially with the intensification of the temperature in an unprecedented way, and its synchronization with Ramadan month, . All this has increased the suffering of the citizens. " Civilian activists said to Shafaq.
The writer and civil activist Yawar Aziz emphasized on "The need for immediate response to the demands of the citizens, so as  not to let the unthinkable thing happen , and lest people  may try other means to express their feelings or they may emigrate as a result of loss of hope."
Khanaqin is counted as one of  the disputed areas between the Kurdistan Regional Government  and the central government . Jalawla and Sa'adia counties are parts of Khanaqin which has a population of nearly 300 thousand people the majority of which are Kurdish , in addition of a mixture of Arabs and Turkmen. It  is the second largest oil city in Iraqi Kurdistan after the city of Kirkuk, and it has a joint  border oil field, with Iran.
