Khanaqin tocut the international Mundhiriyah road again after the failure of the dialogue with Tehran to release Lalonde water

Shafaq Civilian activists announced on Saturday that the Iranian authorities…

have closed  all peaceful means in front of them  to talk about the release of the waters of the Lalonde toward Khanaqin. So they are going to close the international Mundhiriyah road  which links Iran and Iraq, in the face of convoys of visitors and Cargo trucks and fuel tankers from Iran starting from tomorrow morning, Sunday the 31st of July until the the Iranian authorities  torespond for the rights of Iraq's waters in the Lalonde river.

The civil rights activist and journalist Abbas Hamid Rashid, who accompanied the Iraqi delegation headed by the mayor of Khanaqin to Iran, said to Shafaq "The Iraqi delegation whovisited Iran recently met with Iranian officials in the governorate of Kermanshah, in the presence of a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry; and explained to them the humanitarian, environmental, agricultural risks caused by cutting the waters of Lalonde , which is the major lifeblood in Khanaqin. "

"The demands of the delegation concerning releasing of the  water, faced with rejection from the Iranian side, who insisted they did not cut off water, but the region is facing water shortage as a result of the drought that is hitting it."said he .
