Shafaq The artist Yahya Penjashma is one of the few sculptors who were born in their Kurdish city of Khanaqin…

and achieved fame in the region. We had this meeting with him:
* Would like first to talk to us about yourself ?
- My full name: Yahya Mahmoud Penjashma born in 1966 in the city of Khanaqin. I have completed my primary , intermediate and high schools in it  . Then I entered the Faculty of Fine Arts, with a special approval for my talent in the field of sculpturing.
Q: What kind artwork and sculptures have you done?
-  I Completed many sculptures of all kinds such as murals, busts and full sculptures, and I taught all of these at the Institute.
* What do you demand from officials in Khanaqin?
- I wish they put their hands with the hands of the artists and intellectuals in Khanaqin to achieve works of art, whether sculpturing  or a mural of Khanaqin characters.
*As  artists, What do you ask from the central government and Kurdistan Regional Government to do ?
- We ask them to take care of the city and help gathering its artists in one place to give them chances to contribute in reconstructing .
