Will Iraq be free of landmines in 2018?

The statement quoted Christine McNab Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, saying that "mine-contaminated areas in Iraq, covers an area of ​​1730 square kilometers, causing damage to about 1.6 million Iraqis living in about 1600 local communities  in Iraq
And on the plans prepared by the Ministry of Environment to remove the mines and explosives Kamal Hussein the Undersecretary explained : "We have prepared a national plan that  extends until 2018 for the training and development of government staff including the defense and interior ministries concerned in terms of military to deal with mines and shells," adding: "we have seen in recent years, significant progress in the work to remove a large proportion of explosives. This  prompts us to hope for finishing this disaster that threatens Iraq's environment in 2018 when the solutions according to the date set by the "Ottawa" Convention, which obliged Iraq to finish the subject of mines by the above mentioned year."
While the Director of the Office of Humanitarian Affairs and Development of the United Nations Mission Daniel Augustb Rooms said : "Over the past three years, an assistance has been provided to approximately 9500 victims of antipersonnel mines by three rehabilitation centers in Kurdistan
