Ali Hussein Faily the official of the union branch said , in comments to Shafaq on the sidelines of the Third General Conference of the Union of Journalists of Kurdistan, held in Erbil "The Iraqi Journalists Union does not recognize the legitimacy of the Union of Journalists of Kurdistan in a realistic way," noting that " What links the two sides are only some of the protocol actions by which the Kurdistan Syndicate of Journalists propitiate their Iraqi counterparts, such as invitations to attend conferences and some of the activities. "
Jawad Kadhim, one of the representatives of the Conference from Baghdad branch of the union of Kurdistani journalists said the "Committee of the works and activities submitted a report containing many proposals and recommendations including a proposal to form a coordination committee between the Syndicate of Journalists of Kurdistan and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate to grant the Kurdish journalists outside the Region the same rights and privileges granted by the Iraqi Journalists Union to its members ".
