Six archaeological sites in Dohuk within the World Heritage

said that the six archaeological sites in the governorate will be included within the World Heritage sites.
The director of Antiquities of Dohuk, Hassan Ahmed, said to Kurdistan news agency (Rn): "The Directorate has made unremitting efforts with the University of Dohuk, in order to make some of the archaeological sites in the governorate of Dohuk, to be considered as archaeological world sites, by the UNESCO."
Ahmed added: "The Iraqi ambassador to UNESCO and a senior delegation from the Directorate of the Iraqi Museum visited the governorate of Dohuk, the day before yesterday, in order to view the status of archaeological sites in the governorate."
He explained that "The Iraqi Ambassador to the World Heritage sites of UNESCO, Amira Eidan, announced during a visit to the city of Imadiyah (Amidee), the need for annexation of the entire city to the list of World Heritage sites."
The Director of Dohuk Antiquities said:"We decided that the delegation to visit other sites in the governorate, within the city of Akre. The ambassador of Iraq considered that these sites have got the necessary conditions to be included in the list of World Heritage sites."
Amira Eidan announced, during her visit to the governorate of Dohuk, accompanied by a number of experts and specialists in the field of archeology, about her intention to request the UNESCO to add all the archaeological sites in the governorate of Dohuk to the list of archaeological world sites, because they are important locations for the history of Kurdistan and Iraq.
The Ambassador of Iraq to UNESCO,said : "There are many archaeological sites of Iraq which are registered in the list of international locations, such as (the city of Ur, Erbil Castle, the Wasit market, the marshes in southern Iraq), and several other archaeological sites, and we will try to add the sites located in Dohuk governorate , too. "
It is said that Iraq had got the membership of the World Heritage sites Committee, which is supervised by UNESCO of the United Nations, in 2010.
There are in Iraq, about 10,000 archaeological sites, dating back to different eras.
