Ahmed Ali Akbar Alarcoizi
Khanaqin district is too old,. It became a district since the Ottoman rule, it has an important site and of particular importance…
It is regarded the second district in Iraq after Najaf .It was founded in the early formation of the Iraqi government in 1921 .Four areas are attached to Khanaqin: 1 -Maidan, 2 - Saadia, 3 –Qara tu, 4 - Jalawla . The villages attached to Khanaqin are more than 80 villages of Kurds when I talk about Khanaqin I mean the city which is mostly inhabited by Kurds. The city is an embodiment of the heroic struggle in the face of the successive authorities. Khanaqin suffered from repression and persecution and deportation against Kurdish people .There are in Khanaqin several archaeological and historical sites dating back to the old ages .There is a stone bridge set up by the daughter of the king of Iran in 1868.
