The manager of the antiquities of Dohuk will announce…

that his Directorate to detect an important archaeological site near the city center in which four large statues which are counted as the first of their kind in the region were found.
Dr. Hassan Ahmed Qassim director of the Dohuk antiquities said that a team of his Directorate excavated at an archaeological site in the village of Shandokha (1 km west of the city of Dohuk) and found the five statues  which are  counted as the biggest. "They are larger than the form of ordinary people with writings on tablets of stone that are found for the first time ". He added.
"The Directorate will display in an official ceremony on Wednesday afternoon 27 - 7-2011 these statues in the site with details of the history of these writings ." said Hassan.
