Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Human Rights, announced on Monday, creating a department in the Ministry of Interior to follow-up cases of trafficking in human beings, stressing the need for Iraq to have a private system to monitor these cases.
The member of the Commission on Human Rights Ashwaq Aljaf confirmed in an interview with (Shafaq News) last July that its Committee is considering a draft law for combating human beings trafficking, and it is going to be submitted to the House of Representatives and read the first reading."The Interior Ministry started working on the issue of human beings trafficking seriously and put the necessary plans, particularly with regard to intelligence work and gather information about these cases, in addition to the formation of the Directorate of Community Police, and we have dealt seriously with the border crossings and airports through the Ministry of Interior and the security services as well as developing sensors to monitor these cases and raise reports about them. " The spokesman of the Ministry of Human Rights Kamil Amin said in an interview with "Shafaq News""The legal system did not solve human beings trafficking cases, particularly with regard to women, and there are even no penalties or preventive measures to reduce these cases," He noted ,asserting that "the Ministry of Human Rights began writing a draft law on human beings trafficking and it submitted it to the Council of State and then to the Council of Ministers which approved about it . ""The House of Representatives at its next session may make its adoption of this law because of its great importance," Amin expressed the hope ,expressing his fear of "The transferring of this phenomenon to Iraq and exploiting the freedom of travel and movement after its openness in 2003, and forming the gangs or parties and groups that organize this trade ".
The international observers assert that the global economic crisis contributed to the increase in the number of victims of human beings trafficking which is by their emphasis profitable trade carried out by international gangs relying on professional smugglers, and usually the victims are children of poor countries, who are forced to work long hours with low wages or without wages at all . The problem of human being trafficking is still widespread today more than ever before.
