and threw responsibility on the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki of continuing the disputes arising from his interpretation of his initiative to form a government.
Barzani's warnings came in an interview with Al Arabiya, in which he stressed that "The withdrawal of the Americans gave way to open civil war."Barzani said that "the Kurds will play a role to prevent this war," ruling out that "The Kurds are a party in any potential civil war, as they are not a party in the sectarian conflict and they will not be so."
He stressed on his commitment to the Constitution which provides for the unity of Iraq, warning of its repeal or circumventing on it , saying that "the Kurds do not want more or less than the Constitution can give them," adding that " If the Kurdish people decide through a referendum the declaration of Independence we will bear all the responsibility involved and we are ready to pay the price, even if it is fighting.
