The looters demand compensation from the Faily Kurds

Nadheera Isma'il Karim

A short time after the forced deportation, the Iraqi intelligence used to give the deportees' gear and unmovable properties including ...

the Faily Kurds to the ministry of finance after confiscating those properties according to decisions issued by the president to the ministry of finance of that time. That ministry behaved shrewdly in finding the ways of capturing those properties. They kept some of the confiscated properties for the ministry itself while some have been possessed by its official foundations. After the former regime collapse an harmful phenomenon emerged in Iraq, that was the burglary of the state buildings and some of the old offices which were estates of the compellingly deported to Iran and taking over their contents. The Iraqis called those burglars as Hawasim (looters) some of whom are not content in robbering the state properties, but also they with their families lived in some of these buildings which were occupied by the former state offices and foundations .Also those people took over the houses of the compellingly deported people which were evacuated by the former regime men and its foundations those who previously occupied them. Today, the looters refuse to evacuate these properties despite the decision issued by the courts of implementation to evacuate them, although  they are sometimes notified by the police.  Their departure condition from the houses of displaced people is to get compensation for that.
