ISIS blow up Bashtabiya Castle in Mosul

The ministry said in a statement reported for "Shafaq News" that "ISIS terrorist gangs blow up a new archeological site in Mosul city that has been associated in people's memory and represented the identity of the city only."

The history of the castle dates back to the sixth Al-Hjeri and 12 AD century.

The statement said that ISIS targeted "the archaeological remains of a fortress which is not a shrine or a statue that confirms their approach and their criminal sabotage project for each cultural heritage."

The ministry said that "it will not stop at the borders of condemnation and denunciation, and will hunt down the criminals in the international courts for committing these crimes against humanity according to international agreements and conventions."
